HPHL Announces Midget Showcase Partners

Ice Jets 16U, 18U teams in tournaments

The High Performance Hockey League (HPHL) announced today its lineup of Showcase Partner teams who will take part in its various league Showcase weekends at the U16 Midget Minor and U18 Midget Major levels for the 2011-12 season.

At the Midget Minor level, Shattuck St. Mary’s and the Dallas Ice Jets will each participate in a minimum of three Showcases, while Culver Military Academy, Long Island Royals, Las Vegas Storm and Indiana Jr. Ice have signed on for two Showcases each. Rounding out the field of participating midget minor teams are the Michigan Nationals, Pikes Peak Miners and Lansing Capitals, each of whom will partner up for one Showcase event.

At the Midget Major level, Ontario powerhouse Hill Academy and the Dallas Ice Jets have each signed on for three Showcase events, while Shattuck St. Mary’s, Culver Academy and Indiana Jr. Ice will participate in two Showcases each. Perennial national contender Boston Jr. Bruins has agreed to participate in one early HPHL Showcase, and MDHL, Lansing Caps, Gilmour Academy, Pikes Peak Miners and the PEAC will each also take part in a single Showcase.

HPHL Board Chairman Lyle Phair made the announcement, saying: “We are delighted to be able to partner with such high-quality midget programs in our inaugural season. We know these programs will give us the level of competition we want and we are excited to have them on board.”

The HPHL’s “Original Six” member organizations – Chicago Mission, Chicago Young Americans, Detroit Compuware, Detroit Honeybaked, Detroit Little Caesars and Team Illinois – formed the HPHL this spring and will host a number of showcase events at each level this season.
