Ice Jets Spring Camp 2011

Welcome, Goalies!

This year’s Ice Jets Spring Camp includes the return of the popular Jets Goalie Performance Program (JGPP). This revolutionary program promises to be one-of-a-kind in goalie training and development. We offer consistent professional goalie instruction each and every session goalies are on the ice. Included at the conclusion of the camp will be the intensive four-day goalie camp.

We encourage and welcome all goalies from A/AA/AAA from Mite through Midget across DFW to join the Jets Goalie Performance Program. We take pride in our goalies and believe a goaltender’s development and success not only measures their commitment and desire, but also that of the Ice Jets program.

Philosophy
In the JGPP we teach all aspects of the position and show our goalies how to incorporate their own individual style with the proper techniques. The objective of the program is to
  • Educate
  • Teach
  • Train.
We teach our students the art of goaltending in a progressive format. By doing so, goalies are able to enhance their conditioned response to game situations with the end result being … saves!

In order for goalies to be successful in stopping the puck, we believe in teaching them great fundamental habits, which means working hard to perfect all aspects of the position. It is our goal to provide each individual goaltender with the ability to become more than one dimensional shot blockers, but rather develop into a consistent, successful goaltender with a wide range of options and knowledge of the position.

We don't expect goaltenders to meet our needs. We are here to meet their needs. Our professional staff knows what it takes to be a great goaltender and has developed a program from years of playing and coaching experience. We know that consistent skill development does not come by accident. It is the result of correct coaching, skill repetition, intelligent practice design, and dedication from the student to learn in a fun competitive environment. The JGPP has incorporated all of these elements of development.

Ice Jets Professional Goalie Coach Billy Pye
When searching for a goalie camp, your first consideration should be coaching credentials. With JGPP our students have a most credible and experienced goalie coach in Billy Pye. With years of coaching and playing experience, Billy equips students with the necessary knowledge to ensure development. Coach Pye personally works with all goalies in the camp.

Goalie Program Format
In addition to camp participation, all goalies in the JGPP receive one hour of instruction from Billy Pye weekly. During on-ice camp sessions, specific time will be allotted for the goalies to work on training and development skills and drills. During these sessions, Billy will work on the fundamentals of the position and help prepare the goalie to be better equipped for making saves when facing shooters and game situations.

Goalie School
Included in the cost of the Ice Jets Spring Camp will be a four-day Jets Goalie School, which is held after the spring camp concludes. The school will be also run by Billy Pye along with a staff of qualified instructors from Junior, College or Professional levels. The school will work on all goaltending concepts in a more in-depth approach among the goaltending fraternity. Students will be divided into goalie stations with instructors and shooters running a series of drills to simulate game conditions.

The advantage of incorporating the
Jets Goalie School following our spring camp is it affords goalies to learn more comprehensive training techniques within the framework of an actual goalie school. This innovative format gives goalies a three-dimensional training system of instructional training, shooting practice and game situational play that are all required in order for them to maximize their development.

On Ice Training
The Ice Jets goalie program is built on a skill development curriculum that is age-specific for our goalies. All goalie skills are broken down, demonstrated, and drilled. All drills performed represent a focus on the following aspects of the position:
