CHECK-IN
All teams must provide their USA Hockey roster to the tournament director or tournament committee prior to the first game. All team credentials must be available for tournament review at any time.
TOURNAMENT PLAY
- 4-game guarantee for all teams.
- All games will consist of three (3) 18-minute stop time periods (in round robin and consolation) and three (3) 18-minute periods in semi-finals and finals, except for mercy rule. MERCY RULE: If in the THIRD period the difference in score becomes 5 goals or more, running time will begin. If the difference in score falls under 5 goals, stop time will go back into effect.
- All teams must be ready to take the ice and play 15 minutes prior to the scheduled game time, and will be directed to start early if at all possible.
- All teams must be able to play to the completion of the tournament.
- Pre-game warm-up is 5 minutes.
- Touch up off-sides will be used.
- All players must be USA Hockey eligible.
- Ice resurfacing will take place after every two periods.
- The first team listed for each game is the “home” team and will wear their white jerseys.
- In the 18U division, all four teams will play in the semi-finals on Saturday night.
- In the 16U division, top four teams will advance to the semi-finals on Sunday morning.
- Forfeits – If a team forfeits any of its games, the games are recorded as a 1-0 victory for the non-offending team.
- One timeout per team per game in regulation is allowed. Timeouts are 30 seconds in duration. No timeouts are allowed in overtime or during a shootout.
- Three (3) points will be awarded for a regulation win. Two (2) points will be awarded for a shootout win, one (1) point awarded for a shootout loss, and zero (0) points for a loss in regulation.
- All round robin games and semi-final games will be played to determine a winner. There will be no ties.
- For round robin games, if at the conclusion of regulation the score is tied, the teams will not change ends. There will be a 5-man shootout. If after the 5-man shootout the score is still tied, a sudden death shootout will take place. Shooters in the sudden death shootout in round robin games may repeat after the five-man shootout.
- Semi-finals and the Finals games will commence overtime as follows: Teams will not change ends; one (1) five minute 4-on-4 sudden death overtime period will be played. Player penalties will carry over into the overtime period; however, at no time shall a team have less than three (3) skaters and one goalie on the ice. Penalties will stack up and be served in order of receiving as other penalty minutes expire. If the score is still tied at the end of the five (5) minute overtime period, there will be a three (3) man shoot-out. If after the three (3) man shoot out, the score is still tied, a sudden death shootout will take place. Shooters in the three-man shootout in semi-final and championship games may repeat after the five-man shootout, and again after the three-man shootout in sudden death, if applicable.
Tie breaking rules to determine standings
If two or more teams have an equal number of points, their position in the standings shall be determined by the following tie-breaking format. The tie breaker must break the tie between all teams that are tied. If it does not, then the next tie breaker is used until the tie is broken for all of the teams that are tied.
1. Head-to-head
2. Differential (+/-): Subtract goals scored against from goals scored (up to six goals per game) in all games. The positions being determined in order of the greatest number of goals. The team with the higher plus rating is the higher seed.
3. Least penalty minutes.
4. Coin toss.
