Hockey Director Karson Kaebel coached the Ice Jets 2006 Pee Wee team to a Tier I U12 National Championship.
"My greatest accomplishment so far as a coach is not winning the Pee Wee Tier 1 National Championship in 2006, but seeing those players and hundreds of others develop in our program as young men on and off the ice."
Karson has a lifetime of hockey experience and wealth of hockey knowledge. Born and raised in Pekin, IL, with 2 brothers, Butch (12 yr pro) & Klage (5 yr pro). Karson played youth hockey at the AA level and won an Illinois State Championship. Karson has always enjoyed seeing kids develop as hockey players and at 12 years old coached his younger brother’s team.
Growing up under the philosophy instilled by his father that hard work & discipline can take you far in life, Karson went on to play Jr. A in the NAHL and USHL for 3 seasons where he won a National Championship in 1991 for the St. Paul Vulcans. After that he gained a full hockey scholarship to Northern Michigan University where he played - prior to playing 8 seasons of pro hockey. Karson was honored to be a part of 2 NHL training camps the Detroit Red Wings and Quebec Nordiques. Much of the philosophy and training that Karson instills in his players today is due to his being taught by Jack Blatherwick for 5 years. Jack is one of the premier trainers in the world and currently works with the Washington Capitals in the NHL.
